A first-time guide to Sayulita, Mexico
The most popular of the Riviera Nayarit’s two dozen towns was once a sleepy fishing village. Yet Sayulita is so much more than a single street lined with rainbow-colored papel picado flags.

How To Celebrate Día de Muertos in 2024
As fall sets in each year, bakeries across Mexico and parts of the US begin offering pan de muerto, a round pastry sprinkled with sugar and decorated with dough shaped like bones. For Mexicans, this marks the start of the Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations, which gradually build up with various events until their peak on November 1 and 2.
The preparations leading up are extensive, which is why, rather than being a two-day event, this is a whole season of the year dedicated to honoring the dead.
Explore the Roots of Reposado with Herradura® [Infographic]
Casa Herradura has called Amatitán, Jalisco, home for over 150 years. It is here, in the lowlands of Jalisco, where tequila originated and where Casa Herradura’s story began. Legend has it that one of Herradura’s founders, Aurelio López, stumbled upon a horseshoe while walking through the agave fields one day. Taking it as a sign of good luck, he placed a horseshoe symbol on every one of his bottles and gave birth to what would eventually become the name of the brand “Herradura,” which translates to “horseshoe” from Spanish.

I visited the only taco stand in the world with a Michelin star. The best thing I ordered was only $4.
This year, El Califa de León became the first and only taco stand in the world to earn a Michelin star. It received the prestigious title in May, and I knew I had to check it out as soon as I was back home in Mexico City. Founded by Juan Hernández González, El Califa de León has been in operation since 1968, when it opened in the working-class San Rafael neighborhood. Even though it's been around for decades, I'd never been. So, I headed over with my dad and cousin on a Saturday morning.
The Best New Restaurants In Mexico City
Walking down the streets in Mexico City, particularly in trendy areas like Condesa, Roma Norte and Polanco, you’ll get the feeling that there are almost as many restaurants as there are people. And while that is certainly hyperbole, the fact is that the Mexican capital’s food options are so vast that you won’t have time to try everything on a single visit. But that’s a good thing. It means you’ll always have an excuse to plan your next trip back.
